The Department of Agriculture is spearheading a comprehensive transformation of the country’s agri-food system. Guided by the Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas agenda, this transformation seeks to secure the nation’s food supply, uplift farmer and fisherfolk livelihoods, and modernize production through expanded agri-fishery zones, mechanization, post-harvest and logistics upgrades, digitalization, and strengthened partnerships with local governments and the private sector.
The 2025 National Agri-fishery Investment Forum provided a platform to align these efforts into a unified process. It:
Presented the current agri-food system status and investment outlook;
Discussed the Department’s four-year investment plan and possible financing mechanisms for PLGUs;
Facilitated discussions and workshops on provincial commodity investment priorities; and
Generated commitments, support, and complementation from government units, agencies, and partners.
The Forum aimed to:
Identify key commodities prioritized by PLGUs.
Determine priority value chain segments within these commodities that require targeted funding or interventions.
Generate an indicative list of investment-ready interventions supported by local leaders and national agencies.
Gathered expressions of support for collaborative governance to transform the Philippine Agrifood System.
The Forum affirmed the Department’s commitment to transform strategic planning into concrete, coordinated investments to pave the way for a modern, resilient, and inclusive agriculture and fisheries sector.
